The victims aboard a Learjet 60 that crashed in Greenacres, Florida, on Sunday, Nov. 1, were identified, according to published reports. The nine passengers included Texas tech entrepreneur Adam Robinson, 44, his wife, Helen, their two children, a nanny and two close friends. The two crew members also died: Capt. Jeff Gregory, 55, and copilot Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras, 20, whose parents are Brazilian.
The jet had taken off from Austin, Texas, bound for the Bahamas when it went down in a residential area of Greenacres, in Palm Beach County. It struck a mobile home park and exploded. The passenger identifications were reported by TMZ, citing people close to the family.
Filgueiras was identified by relatives as a crew member. She drew attention in U.S. news coverage in 2023 after earning her private pilot’s license at age 17, before she had obtained a driver’s license. An audio recording of communications between the crew and air traffic controllers captured the emergency before the crash.
The New York Post reported that relatives confirmed the female voice on the recording was likely Filgueiras. In the transmission, the crew member said the aircraft was having problems, traveling too fast and rapidly losing altitude. Near the end of the exchange, she cried, “We’re going to die. We’re going to die. We’re going to hit the ground. Look outside.” She then said there was no more time. The controller tried to contact the aircraft again, but the transmission ended.
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash, with support from the Federal Aviation Administration. Investigators are examining whether the jet broke apart in the air before impact and whether pieces separated before or during its descent. The NTSB also found indications that the Learjet exceeded its speed limit, a condition known in aviation as overspeed. The force of the impact may complicate recovery efforts, and investigators believe debris could be found far from the crash site. The cause has not been determined.
